The demands of digitally enabled customers and the growing number of connected devices has increased expectations in the real-time world with people looking to make decisions based on information on-demand. This is creating and relaying vast amounts of data to organizations with some highly valuable but most possibly worthless. The amount of data generated by individuals is just staggering and (as it grows) the internet of things will only add to this. According to Cisco the IOT will generate 400 zettabytes (ZB) of data a year by 2018. To put this into context a zettabyte is a trillion gigabytes…..a trillion….

Carol Hartman and Jim Schroeder of DHR International’s Financial Services Practices Group recently completed the search for the CIO of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. Candidate Russell Read was chosen for the position and will begin on May 9. Prior to joining the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp, Russell was the CIO and deputy CEO of Gulf Investment Corp., Kuwait, a state-owned investment company. Before Gulf Investment Corp, Russell was the CIO of California Public Employees’ Retirement System, and he was also the CIO at Deutsche Asset Management.
